PALS Must-Have: Experience in PICU and general pediatric floor
Description: Looking for a Pediatric RN who is able to take an
assignment in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The RN must be
capable of managing patients requiring continuous nebulization,
BiPAP, and insulin drips for DKA. The RN will also be required to
manage 3-4 patients on the general pediatric floor when PICU
patients are not available. The unit has 17 beds, and the
nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1 or 1:2 in the PICU and 1:3 or 1:4 on
the general pediatric floor. Navy blue scrubs are required, with an
option for a child-friendly colorful scrub top. Travelers will
typically receive a couple of orientation shifts. The facility uses
Epic for computerized charting and medication systems. Floating to
other departments may be required, including assignments in the
NICU and OB for support. Nurses must badge in and out at the
facility. The role involves working every other weekend and
holiday. The RNs will frequently encounter situations requiring 1:1
patient monitoring for safety and suicide prevention. An ability to
work collaboratively and flexibly across units is essential.
