SMX is seeking an experienced Data Architect with a passion for problem solving, envisioning solutions and systematic execution - with the ability to rapidly learn new technologies independently and communicate their impact to enterprises.You will provide SME level advisory for clients and account growth opportunities. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable conversing with senior client business and technical leaders, including C Suite, Vice Presidents, Directors, and technical staff. In this role, you will align data technology solutions to solve client business challenges and goals. The Principal Data Architect develops relationships with key clients and acts as a trusted advisor. They are able to think big, focused on strategic business outcomes, while also able to dive deep on technical solutioning.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to digitally transform client business and businesses from a data perspective
  • Lead consulting and planning efforts through the initial phases of large-scale client initiatives specifically: business case, data strategy, data architecture and services, governance strategy, and roadmap development.
  • Participate in customer advisory and capture activities including workshops, client presentations, and proposal development
  • Collaborate with a variety of product and business owners to help understand business requirements and provide guidance on data solution architecture/approaches.
  • Define reference architectures and help build guidance around those architectures best practices and usage recommendations
  • Provide SME support for technology implementations (e.g. Data Management, Data Engineering, and AI/ML solutions)
  • Provides input to technology investments at many different levels in the organization
  • Support the development of account plans to build long-term relationships with customers and identify new opportunities
  • Support business capture and development functionsRequired Skills:
    • Ability and experience leading multi-stream cloud transformation programs, focusing on data management, engineering, and data science offerings
    • Experience designing, migrating, and delivering highly complex data solutions, balancing costs, security, and risk with stated business objectives
    • Experience with broad array of cloud native and 3 rd party data services including ETL, data streaming, data warehousing, analytics, HPC, data lakes, machine learning, and artificial intelligence services
    • Strong technical writing and proposal development skills required
    • Be willing to learn, collaborate, contribute and improve
    • Ability to prioritize tasking, adapt and self-motivate
    • Be ready to roll up your sleeves
    • Achieve and maintain Public Cloud Professional level certifications (e.g. AWS SA Professional, AWS Data Analytics and Machine Learning Specialties, and Microsoft and Google Cloud equivalents)Required Experience:
      • 15+ years of data and cloud technical experience
      • Big4 or equivalent consulting experience highly desired
      • MBA preferred
      • US Government security clearance preferred must be clearable
      • Government client experience including classified environment and ATO support
      • Proven ability to articulate and clearly communicate complex problems and solutions in a simple, logical, and impactful manner
