CHI St. Alexius Health is a regional health network with a tertiary hospital in Bismarck, the system also consists of critical access hospitals (CAHs) in Carrington, Dickinson, Devils Lake, Garrison, Turtle Lake, Washburn and Williston and numerous clinics and outpatient services.  CHI St. Alexius Health manages four CAHs in North Dakota - Elgin, Linton, and Wishek, as well as Mobridge Regional Medical Center in Mobridge, S.D. CHI St. Alexius Health offers a comprehensive line of inpatient and outpatient medical services, including: a Level II Trauma Center, primary and specialty physician clinics, home health and hospice services, durable medical equipment services, a fitness and human performance center and ancillary services throughout western and central North Dakota.

Responsibilities

This position contributes to the CHI Health vision and mission by the creation, implementation and maintenance of an effective front desk patient registration workflow.  This job is responsible for managing and evaluating the daily activities of the assigned patient access and/or clinical staff in accordance with established business objectives and applicable regulatory requirements.  They will oversee activities to make sure they are conducted in a cost-effective and efficient manner, meets customer needs and are compliant with internal policies/standards/procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.  Serve as a role model for ethical management behavior and promotes an awareness and understanding of positive ethical and moral principles consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Values of CHI Health. Some travel is required between system hospitals and clinic sites.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  1. Oversees assigned staff engaged in maintaining/supporting patient access services, and/or local officer services, including appointment scheduling, registration, check-in/check-out, collections, referrals, patient and care tram activities, TOS collections, co-pay collections and other activities in accordance with established operating standards
  2. Interviews job candidates and makes employment and other personnel decision in accordance with established guidelines
  3. Assists in identifying adequate staffing levels for appropriate coverage to meet budgetary and operational objectives
  4. Ensures that staff are qualifies, properly trained and help accountable in performing assigned job duties
  5. Hold regular staff meetings to keep employees appraised of all matters relevant to successful job performance
  6. Approves timecards
  7. Communicates performance standards and evaluates employee performance.
  8. Resolve patient relations matters in a timely and courteous maker
  9. Serves as a critical conduit/liaison with various internal departments in coordinating and resolving various business and/or patient care related issues
  10. Identifies opportunities to streamline current operations and implementing approved procedural changes
  11. Collaborates with Revenue Cycle departments and clinics to monitor and evaluate operational based causes for denials for purposes of improving denial performance
  12. Be the point of Contact for all of ND as well as directly oversee the registration staff in the Bismarck area
  13. Work with the CAH/RHC’s in the Bismarck market to transition the registration staff to report directly to the Patient Access Manager
  14. Be the liaison for HB/PB registration
  15. Develop/implement an hold staff accountable to production and quality standards this includes registration, scheduling, and time of service collections
  16. Develop/implement appropriate policies and procedure to best support the PE registration process
  17. Be a liaison with RQC in NE for all clinic registration
  18. Be a liaison with Clinical Informatics for all markets to ensure a proper and strong PE revenue cycle

Qualifications

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

·        Must possess a strong working knowledge of the concepts, practices, policies, procedures, standards, systems and tools within the clinical office environment; including medical practices and terminology

·        A keen understanding of physician and other general health care operations.

·        Basic knowledge of the content, intent, and application of federal and state regulations; ability to keep abreast of trends, developments and requirements impacting matters within the front office/registration clinic areas.

·        Excellent management skills

·        Good computer understanding and skills

·        Excellent communication skills

·        Strong change management skills;

·        Demonstrated ability to set and maintain multiple priorities in an environment with shifting priorities, while providing accurate deliverables in a timely fashion

·        Must be self-motivated, and able to take ownership of projects/assignments

·        Must be a team player with excellent follow-up and customer service skills

·        Strong interpersonal, verbal, and writing skills

 

PREFERRED Qualifications

2 years of experience in a health crae setting
