Responsibilities

The Coordinator –Occupational Health is to assure that all aspects of injury management within the CHI St. Alexius Health MBO are operating with maximum efficiency.  Provides consultation for the regional and national leadership in regards to injury case management and other related functions.   Injury Case Management operations need to include the regulatory issues of WSI, OSHA, and the JC.  It is imperative that the CHI St. Alexius Health MBO Injury Management operations: create and maintain a high level of satisfaction with Workforce Safety & Insurance (WSI) in order to maximize the WSI Safety Discounts and Dividends for CHI St. Alexius MBO; meet or exceed OSHA and JC standards in order to prevent unintentional  non-compliance and associated penalties.  Performs work activities in accordance with the mission, vision, values and philosophies of St. Alexius Medical Center.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  1. Identifies and oversees the operations of all parties involved with the daily oversight and regulatory matters of Injury Case Management within CHI St. Alexius Health MBO. Identifies all parties involved with WSI Injury Case Management within the CHI St. Alexius Health MBO and develops and oversees the necessary work flows that will assure efficient communication and timely documentation of injury claims.
  2. Identifies all parties involved with OSHA and JC regulatory compliance as it relates to the injured worker within CHI St. Alexius Health MBO and develops and oversees the necessary work flows that will assure a high standard of compliance.
  3. Develops relationships with Designated Medical Provider customers within CHI St. Alexius Health MBO in order to improve their understanding of WSI Injury Case Management procedures and how utilization of CHI St. Alexius Health resources will improve the outcomes.
  4. Develops relationships with CHI St. Alexius Health MBO medical providers so that they have a better understanding of their role in WSI injury management so that work restrictions and time loss are safely minimized.
    1. Provides medical personnel with tools and algorithms which facilities the safe return of an injured worker to full time employment.
  5. Travels to CHI St. Alexius Health MBO facilities in order to oversee and facilitate the delivery of Injury Case Management operations.
  6. Promotes interdepartmental service provision and communication within CHI St. Alexius Health MBO so that all related services understand their role with the WSI Injury Management operations.
  7. Develops, facilitates, and participates in training of all CHI St. Alexius Health MBO associates involved with Injury case management so that they acquire a greater understanding of how to manage the injured worker effectively while meeting all regulatory statues.
  8. Assists the CHI St. Alexius Health MBO in developing/maintaining a comprehensive electronic injury reporting system.
  9. Assists CHI St. Alexius Health MBO in the development of preventative programs such as respiratory protection, hearing conservation or other programs that will reduce the potential for future claims.
  10. Provides consultation for the regional and national leadership in regards to injury case management and other related functions.
  11. Facilitates positive team development and interaction.

Qualifications

Required Education for Staff Job Levels

Licensed or Registered as a Nurse in North Dakota

Required Minimum Experience

3 years as a health care provider. 

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to operate computers and enter data.  Ability to multi task and change direction and plans during the day as circumstances change.  Ability to independently problem solve and make decisions.  Strong listening, oral and written communication skills are important.  The ability to manage conflict effectively and develop interdependent and positive interpersonal relationships with others, both within the department and with staff in other departments.

PREFERRED Education and/or Experience

Registered Nurse, Previous WSI Case Management experience, Previous OCC Med experience, OSHA Record Keeping,
