CHI St. Alexius Health is a regional health network with a tertiary hospital in Bismarck, the system also consists of critical access hospitals (CAHs) in Carrington, Dickinson, Devils Lake, Garrison, Turtle Lake, Washburn and Williston and numerous clinics and outpatient services.  CHI St. Alexius Health manages four CAHs in North Dakota - Elgin, Linton, and Wishek, as well as Mobridge Regional Medical Center in Mobridge, S.D. CHI St. Alexius Health offers a comprehensive line of inpatient and outpatient medical services, including: a Level II Trauma Center, primary and specialty physician clinics, home health and hospice services, durable medical equipment services, a fitness and human performance center and ancillary services throughout western and central North Dakota.

Business partners are dedicated Finance leaders supporting clinical and operational excellence within the Division. Aligned to Divisions/MBOs and/or service lines to drive operational performance and strategic initiatives. Serve as thought-leaders in using financial techniques to support, coach and enable divisional executives and operational leaders to deliver outstanding performance.  Act as strategic link between CHI’s short/long term goals and tactics executed by operational leaders to achieve goals 


Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with local operations team in business units (e.g. Divisions, MBOs and/or service lines) to formulate, refine, and operationalize strategy
  2. Own financial performance management at the business-unit level, provide insights, measure success, and coach leadership on improvement opportunities
  3. Provides support to Division CFO in division finance board meetings and reviews
  4. Partner with FP&A and FISA to conduct financial analysis supporting decisions and measuring results (M&A, financial trends, growth opportunities).
  5. Liaison to business units to translate/communicate initiatives to markets and drive accountability assigned to Executive Sponsors and Champions
  6. Serve on Divisional planning and policy making committees
  7. Support execution of business unit plans/budgets/forecasts, including all business unit specific assumptions that materially impact annual plan and forecast
  8. Coordinate with the Division planning/budgeting manager to ensure key insights are incorporated into the end-to-end planning process, and outcomes are clearly defined and communicated back to executive sponsors and champions
  9. Collaborate with business unit operational leaders to gather inputs, validate assumptions, and develop action plans to meet targets
  10. Partner with Divisional leadership to develop in-depth understanding of business unit risks and opportunities; and incorporate these into the planning process
  11. Participate in divisional forecast meetings; discuss opportunities & meeting targets
  12. Regularly participates in Revenue Cycle meetings at the local and National level for the hospital and the physician enterprise while engaging key stakeholders to improve overall performance.
  13. Participates in and partners with local and National Supply Chain efforts to assist in driving overall operational and financial performance.
  14. Provides operational leadership to Great Plains DME operations.
  15. Provides operational leadership to Clinical Informatics and Clinical Engineering
  16. Responsible for management of IT services to ensure CHI St. Alexius needs are being met through Division and National staffing and outsource arrangements.
  17. Coordinates with Real Estate at National/Division as necessary related to local asset and space related issues.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Experience in business/finance with 8+ years of experience preferably in healthcare.

·         Ability to meet pre-established deadlines
