Software Developer II (Powerflow - Electrical Engineering

Overview:NISC is seeking a talented Full-Stack Desktop Developer
with a passion for solving complex challenges and working
collaboratively. This role involves designing, building, and
evolving Desktop and Server-based solutions tailored for electrical
engineers. Additionally, they will tool around with complex
algorithmic approaches to solving Powerflow for electricals
systems, including maintenance of existing logic and improvements.
The successful candidate will work with our skilled software
engineers to develop innovative solutions that meet our Members'

- Software Development: Design and build responsive desktop
applications specifically for electrical engineering applications,
ensuring that solutions are robust and scalable.
- Web Services: Develop and maintain RESTful web services to
support application functionality.
- Containerization: Implement container-driven development using
technologies such as Kubernetes and micro-services
architecture.
- Feature Development: Collaborate with cross-functional
teams-including product managers, quality assurance, and support
staff-to research, design, and implement new features tailored to
electrical engineering needs.
- Issue Resolution: Research, analyze, and resolve moderately
complex customer issues and bugs related to electrical engineering
applications.
- Testing: Perform unit testing and integration testing of code
to ensure high-quality software delivery.
- Development Practices: Adhere to established software
development methodologies and procedures, and continuously seek to
improve development practices.
- Additional Duties: Undertake other tasks as assigned to support
team objectives and project goals.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Preferred:
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in software development,
with a focus on developing solutions for technical fields such as
electrical engineering.
- Technologies:
- Proficient in C++ and C#.
- Experience with Java or other Object-Oriented languages.
- Knowledge of relational databases such as PostgresSQL, SQL or
Oracle.
- Knowledge of or experience with Electrical Engineering or Power
Systems Engineering.
- Development Practices:
- Experience with asynchronous workflows and patterns.
- Knowledge of web trends, architecture, and deployment
patterns.
- Proficiency with Git, including branching and merging
workflows.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Bamboo.
- Keep up with technology trends and innovations in your field of
practice.

- Hybrid from one of our office locations:
- Cedar Rapids, IA
- Lake Saint Louis, MO
- Mandan, ND
- Hybrid Schedule: Minimum of working 3 day per week out of an
office location and ability to work up to all 5 days a week from an
office location.
- Required Days from an Office Location: Tuesday and Wednesday -
the third required day will be up to the candidate and their
supervisor to choose.
- Virtual Office Location : Fully remote candidates will be
considered for candidates who have a background developing software
within the utility and/or electrical engineering industries.
