JOB OVERVIEW Profession: Physician Specialty: Gastroenterology Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Bismarck, North Dakota Service Setting: Inpatient Coverage Type: Call Only Coverage Period: Dec 29, 2026 Ongoing Shifts needed to be filled: Dec 29 - Jan 4, 2027 Shift Schedule: 24-Hour Call (7a-7a) Call Type: In-House Callback Rate: 10.55 hours (average callback per 24h) PATIENT INFORMATION Average Daily Volume: Scopes: 1-2 New consults: 1-2 Rounding: 5-6 Case Mix: General GI, GI Bleeding, ERCP FACILITY INFORMATION EMR System: Epic Support Staff Available: RNs, CRNAs (Endoscopy Room) PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes Credentialing Timeline: 60-90 days REQUIRED PROCEDURES Colonoscopy Biopsy Polypectomy Proctoscopy / Flexible Sigmoidoscopy Hemorrhoidal Banding Upper GI Endoscopy PEG Esophageal Variceal Banding Banding Lesions - Management of acute GI bleed Dilation ERCP (Highly Preferred) Management of hospitalized GI patients JOB REQUIREMENTS Board: Board Certified Licenses: Active ND License (Highly Preferred; will accept pending license or Universal License (IMLC DEA: Active DEA (Required during credentialing) Certifications: BLS Experience: Experience in General GI; ERCP certification highly preferred Self-Query NPDB report dated within 30 days of presentation required. Duties & Responsibilities Provide 24-hour call coverage for Gastroenterology service, including in-house rounding and procedures. Round on hospitalized GI patients (average 5-6 per day) and conduct new consults (1-2 per day). Perform diagnostic and therapeutic Endoscopic procedures (Colonoscopy, EGD, Banding, Polypectomy, etc.; ERCP preferred). Manage acute GI bleeding and other emergent GI conditions. Collaborate with RNs and CRNAs in Endoscopy suite; no supervision of APPs.
