Surgical First Assistant Location: Bismarck, ND Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,606 per week Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 8 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 3/30/2026 About the Position Job Title: Surgical Assistant Profession: Surgical First Assistant Specialty: Cardiovascular Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Monday through Friday Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Cardiovascular procedures License: Required Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: Skills in Cardiovascular surgical procedures and basic General surgery procedures Description: Looking for a surgical assistant with experience in cardiovascular procedures. Key procedures include CABG, angiograms, endarterectomies, aortic root repairs, valve replacements, and AAA procedures. Surgical assistance will also be required in General, Orthopaedic, OB/GYN, Urology, ENT, and Plastics procedures. The surgical assistant must be prepared to work at both the main hospital surgery center and the outpatient surgery center. Shifts are Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 3:30 PM, with required call duties. Call shifts occur once every week from 3:30 PM to 7 AM the following day. Additionally, a weekend call shift is required every four weeks. The unit performs around 40 to 60 procedures per day across various specialties. Preference cards for surgical procedures are thorough and consistently updated. Collaboration with a variety of surgical staff, including Registered Nurse First Assists and Surgical Technologist First Assists. Candidates must possess strong interpersonal skills, maintain a professional appearance, and adhere to workplace protocols. Familiarity with computerized charting systems is expected. Responsibilities will vary based on the procedures performed and the needs of the surgical team. The environment is fast-paced and requires flexibility and adaptability.
