to find a qualified Psych RN in Bismarck, North Dakota, 58501! Job
Title: Psychiatric Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered
Nurse) Specialty: Psychiatric Nursing Duration: 13 weeks Shift:

Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, CPI
(preferred) Must-Have: Acute or inpatient hospital experience Good
de-escalation skills Strong communication skills Experience with
adolescent patients is preferred Description: This unit has 25
licensed beds, currently utilizing both adult and adolescent beds.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 3:1 for adults and 6:1 for
adolescents. The patient population includes adolescents and adults
experiencing common diagnoses such as depression, anxiety,
substance abuse, psychosis, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.
Traveling nurses may work with different patient populations during
their shifts. Although intravenous therapies are very rare on this
unit, having that experience is a plus. Charge nurses or house
supervisors may not be present on every shift. Travelers are
typically not expected to assume charge responsibilities.
Mechanical restraints and seclusion are utilized infrequently.
Mental health technicians assist with patient care, with a
potential ratio of 2 techs for 9 patients. Occupational therapy is
available on weekdays, along with social work support. Respiratory
therapy is available as needed for patients requiring oxygen or
treatments. There are no telemetry/monitor technicians on the unit,
so nurses are not required to read their own strips. Shifts include
7a-7p, 7p-7a, 7a-3p, 3p-11p, and 11p-7a, with self-scheduling based
on seniority. Weekend and holiday requirements are every other
occurrence. Floating to different areas of the hospital may be
necessary for additional support. The dress code allows any color
except maroon, suitable for a business casual environment.
Unit-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts. This unit is the
only child and adolescent inpatient unit in the region, located on
a locked floor. Expectations include being actively involved in
patient care rather than remaining stationed at the nurses'
station. Successful nurses in this unit exhibit patience and remain
slow to anger. Only initial requests for time off will be
