working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Bismarck,
North Dakota, 58501! Job Title: Med/Tele/PCU RN Profession:
Registered Nurse Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12
Hour Nights, every other week Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week
Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: Required
Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: PCU experience, ability to
read cardiac strips Description: This role involves providing care
to patients in a Med/Tele/PCU setting. The department consists of
32 beds with nurse to patient ratios of 1:4-5, occasionally 5-6 at
night. Patients typically include adults and geriatrics with
various cardiac conditions. Common diagnoses include cardiac caths,
EP studies, pacemakers, alcohol withdrawal, COVID-19 with BiPAP,
and general surgical patients with cardiac history. RNs will be
required to titrate drips, including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin,
Nitro, Nipride, Lasix, and low-dose Dopamine. There is a charge
nurse on each shift who may also take a light patient load of 2-3
patients. Nurse aids or patient care techs are present on the unit
with a target ratio of 1:10. RNs will troubleshoot respiratory
equipment such as BiPAP, trachs, and high-flow oxygen. Telemetry or
monitor techs are available, with portable monitors and room
monitors in use. RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting
their own cardiac strips. Shift scheduling will be managed by the
unit manager, considering staff preferences and unit needs. Weekend
and holiday requirements involve every other rotation. RNs may be
required to float to other areas, including full patient
assignments in PCU and Med/Surg. Scrubs of any color are
acceptable, and facility-specific orientation consists of two
12-hour shifts. This position entails more emphasis on telemetry
and cardiac unit care. Candidates must be within a 50-mile radius
and cannot have full-time, part-time, or PRN roles with any
affiliated facilities. Requests for time off must be submitted
upfront, with limited additional requests approved. Charting will
be done using the EPIC system. BSN is not required for this
position. The care setting is acute, with a Trauma Level of 2. 5
