Registered Nurse (RN) | Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Location: Bismarck, ND Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,164 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 4/6/2026 About the Position Job Title: NICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hours Night Shift, Every Other Weekend Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 1 year in NICU, 2 years level III-IV experience preferred License: Required Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: - Ability to titrate drips - Attend deliveries under 36 weeks to assist with APGAR Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The unit operates with a Level III care standard. There are 22 beds in an open concept layout, with more critical cases on one side. The RN station is centrally located for optimal observation. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2-3, and 4 for more stable patients. Common diagnoses include respiratory distress syndrome, small for gestational age, prematurity, hypoglycemia, and bilirubin issues. The unit does not perform surgical procedures or G-tube placements. Nurses will be involved in various procedures, including intubation and bubble CPAP. Neonatologists are available during the day, while Nurse Practitioners cover night shifts. All RNs are expected to participate in deliveries and assist with resuscitation as necessary. There is a Charge Nurse on each shift who takes assignments. The unit has respiratory therapy equipment, including bubble CPAP and ventilators. Patients are not typically on telemetry, but RNs are encouraged to read strips. Scheduling is managed by the unit manager, with options for blocked scheduling. Weekend work is required every other weekend, along with two holidays per year. RNs may float to assist in related units as needed. Scrubs are provided by the facility. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong communication skills, teamwork, and a commitment to family-centered care.
