a qualified Psych RN in Bismarck, North Dakota, 58501! Job Title:

Experience in acute/inpatient psychiatric settings, strong
communication skills, and good de-escalation abilities Description:
This position is on a psychiatric unit with 25 licensed beds,
including adult and adolescent patients. The nurse-to-patient ratio
is 3:1 for adults and 6:1 for adolescents. Common diagnoses include
depression, anxiety, substance abuse, psychosis, bipolar disorder,
and schizophrenia. Travelers may work with both pediatric and adult
populations, separated by a door. Mechanical restraints and
seclusion are used rarely. Mental health technicians and aids
support the nursing staff with a 2:1 ratio when the unit is full.
Occupational therapy and social work services are available during
the week. Respiratory therapy is in-house and provides support as
needed. There are no tele/monitor technicians on the unit; RNs are
not required to read strips. Shifts are self-scheduled based on
seniority in a union environment, with efforts made to accommodate
block scheduling. Weekend and holiday requirements are every other.
Floating to various hospital departments may be required as needed.
The dress code is business casual, excluding maroon colors. Two
unit-specific orientation shifts will be provided. Only
child/adolescent inpatient unit in the region, located on the
fourth floor. Emergency buttons are available for code situations,
and additional staff support is accessible. Nurses are expected to
be actively involved in patient care, assisting with regular rounds
and engagement, rather than just remaining at the nurse's station.
Successful nurses in this unit exhibit patience and a calm
demeanor. Radius Rule applies: candidates must reside within 50
miles. Requests for time off should be noted upfront, and
additional requests cannot be accommodated once the position is
accepted. The charting system utilized is EPIC. BSN is not
required. This position is within an acute care setting classified
as Trauma Level 2. The goal is to provide excellent care in a
