Cynet Health to find a qualified Med/Surg / Tele RN in Bismarck,
North Dakota, 58501! Job Title: Med/Tele/PCU RN Profession: RN
(Registered Nurse) Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift:
12H Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: 2 years
License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have:
Must have PCU experience and be able to read strips. Tele/cardiac
RN with PCU experience. Epic experience preferred. Description:
Department requires Med/Tele RN. The unit has 32 beds. Nurse to
patient ratios are 1:4-5, occasionally 5-6 on nights. PCU level
care overflow on the unit has a ratio of 1:3. Common diagnoses
include cardiac caths, EP studies, pacemakers, ETOH, Covid Bipap,
and occasional general surgical patients with a cardiac history.
Medical patients often have a cardiac history, pneumonia due to
Covid, acute on chronic conditions, influenza, and sepsis. RNs are
required to titrate drips, including Amio, Cardizem, Heparin,
Nitro, Nipride, Lasix, and low-dose Dopamine. There is a charge
nurse on each shift who occasionally takes a light assignment of
2-3 patients. There are nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit
with a goal ratio of 1:10 in duties. RNs are expected to
troubleshoot respiratory equipment, including Bipap, trachs, and
airvo. Tele/monitor techs support the unit with portable monitors
and tech presence at the nurses' station. RNs are required to read
and interpret their own strips. Shifts are scheduled from 7 am to 7
pm and 7 pm to 7 am, with no rotating shifts occurring more than
weekly. Weekends are required every other week. Holidays are
required every other. Floating is required to all areas and
includes full patient loads in PCU and MS, along with occasional ER
holds. Any color scrubs are permitted, and 12-hour shifts will be
from Friday and Saturday of the first week of orientation. The unit
is primarily tele/cardiac focused. Candidates must comply with the
radius rule, with a mileage limit set. Requests for time off must
be submitted upfront, with strict guidelines regarding additional
RTO. The charting system used is EPIC. A BSN is not required for
this position. The care setting is acute. The trauma level is 2. 5
