Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 11/17/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, rotating - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med Surg position in an acute care setting with trauma level 2 exposure and rotating day/night shifts. Responsibilities - Work in a 24-bed Med Surg unit in an acute care hospital setting - Patient population includes observation cases such as chest pain, abdominal pain, post-op procedures (hysterectomies, knee scopes, tonsillectomies), hernias, and infusion therapies - Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5 at all times - High patient turnover with frequent admissions and discharges - Shifts are 12 hours, rotating between day (6:00am-6:30pm) and night (6:00pm-6:30am) - Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday - Uses Epic EMR and Acu-dose medication dispensing with medication scanning - May float to other Med Surg units, rotated equally with permanent staff - Must be highly organized to manage rapid patient turnover and multiple admissions and discharges per shift - Candidate will receive 2-3 orientation shifts with a preceptor and classroom training for Epic - Work as part of a team with strong support available; never work alone - Trauma level 2 environment may require prompt response to changes in patient status - Navy blue scrubs required - Position does not accept local travelers with permanent addresses within 80 miles Requirements - Active ND or compact RN license required - Current BLS certification required - Minimum of 2 years recent Med Surg RN experience required - Proficiency in IV starts, dressing changes, Foley catheter care, and care of pre- and post-op observation patients - Experience using Epic EMR preferred Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-630208.
