    Uses learned skills to properly identify patients, efficiently collect samples and properly identify specimens for laboratory testing, including non-blood specimens. Able to utilize the lab computer system, lab PDAs and printers.Assumes duties that require more in-depth training, and abilities to multi-task. Assures service excellence to all our customers is the highest priority. Provides assistance to the Laboratory Supervisor, new employee orientation, inventory control, and manual revisions.
    • Performs patient identification correctly per hospital policies and procedures.
    • Performs specimen identification and collection per lab policies and procedures.
    • Performs Phlebotomy procedures/steps correctly per lab policies and procedures.
    • Performs Point of Care testing correctly.
    • Understands and performs all aspects of the Charge Phlebotomist position.
    • Assist staff with continuing education, annual competencies, and certification preparation.
    • Is a team player and role model for the department.
    • Responsible for charge duties in the absence of the supervisor.
    • Plays a role in staff communication regarding updates, schedule changes, etc.
      Education: High school graduate. Advance coursework preferred. Licensure: National Phlebotomy or Medical Lab Technician Certification. If not an MLT and not phlebotomy certified, must obtain National Phlebotomy Certification within six months of hire.Experience: Two years in a clinical laboratory setting.
