Established in 1974, The Bone & Joint Center is a medical and surgical orthopedic practice dedicated to providing general and specialized orthopedic care to patients in the Upper Midwest.As the largest private orthopedic practice in North Dakota, our board certified surgeons, physician assistants and nurse practitioners, and physical, occupational, and hand therapists treat patients at--9 convenient locations--throughout the state. In fact, we employ more qualified therapists than any other practice in the state. JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARYThe chief executive officer is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the company by working with the board of directors and the executive management team to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies.Responsibilities of the CEO will include assisting the physician owners with governance of the practice enterprise and divisional entities and continuing the transition to a fully integrated practice. This position is also responsible with overseeing physicians' growth and management of this growth, ancillary services growth, evaluating and managing the management team, ensuring sound operational performance, strategic planning, guiding the practice through the ever-changing health care environment and working on a daily basis with the management team. The CEO will be responsible for leading and directing the staff, including the organization's administrative team in management of all the business, human resources, clinical, financial, strategy, compliance, and regulatory aspects of the practice. Collaborates with the executive management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes and personnel designed to accommodate the growth objectives of the company.Oversees the business and financial affairs of the clinic, and fiscal management including accounting, budgeting, internal controls, and timely reporting.Motivates and leads a high-performance management team; attracts, recruits and retains required members of the executive team not currently in place; provides mentoring as a cornerstone to the management career development program.Acts as lead "client-care officer" through direct contact with every client and partner.Assists, as required, in raising additional capital at appropriate valuations to enable the company to meet sales, growth and market share objectives.Fosters a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company.Resolves any medical-administrative problems and keeps lines of communication open with staff to ensure high employee morale in a professional, healthful clinic atmosphere.Represents the clinic in its relationships with other health organizations, government agencies, and third-party payers. Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position manages subordinate supervisor(s) who supervise employee(s) and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these units. The CEO also directly supervises non-supervisory employees. This position's responsibilities include: interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Master's degree and demonstrated continuing professional education preferred. Minimum of 10 years of executive level experience including 5 years of experience in the administration of private practice clinic. Language--Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication and ability to effectively present information to public groups, and Board of Directors. Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with all accounting concepts. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Other Skills and Abilities: Work experience required in the following areas: health care operations, working with various constituencies such as government, foundations, community groups; effective teambuilding; information management; resource development and financial management. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This includes moderate physical effort consisting of occasionally lifting or moving over 35 pounds of weight. Travel Requirement: To fulfill the responsibility of the position travel to all BJC locations will be required. Employee should have valid driver's license.
