Summary of Work As a member of the Governor's Cabinet, the
Executive Director of the Indian Affairs Commission provides
vision, leadership, and collaboration to strengthen state-tribal
relations and oversees the management and administration of the
Indian Affairs Commission office located in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Responsibilities Include: Qualifications --- Exceptional written
and interpersonal communication skills. --- Extensive executive
management experience (minimum of 5 years work experience in an
executive-level role). --- Executive-level composure and presence.
--- Ability to think strategically and deliver solutions. ---
Analytical and decision-making ability for immediate and long-term
decisions. --- Capacity to plan, organize, lead, and guide all
aspects of department administration including budget development
and management. --- Ability to develop and implement agency

for this position. Duties And Responsibilities: --- Lead the
development and delivery of the Commission strategy and budget. ---
Serve as liaison between the state and the five tribal nations
within the State of North Dakota. --- Provide direction and
guidance in the implementation and interpretation of programs and
services. --- Monitor key legislation impacting the Commission and
the tribal nations in North Dakota and prepare and present
legislative testimony. --- Represent the Commission to internal and
external public and private organizations by serving on committees
and advisory boards; provide expertise and information. --- Provide
strategic leadership and development of Commission team members.
--- Establish and implement policies to ensure compliance with
state and federal laws and regulations. --- Serve as a statutory
member on various boards to promote Native American culture,
education, health, and economic prosperity. Coordinate scheduling
of quarterly commission meetings. --- Act as a resource for other
cabinet and state agencies regarding state-tribal relations. ---
Demonstrated experience leading, motivating and developing talent
to achieve organizational strategy. --- Enrolled member of one of
North Dakota's five federally recognized Tribes is preferred. ---
Knowledge of the legislative process and government operations is
