Job Description:

Bismarck Public Schools is accepting applications for Substitute Teachers! The daily rate of pay is $150.00 for a full day (7.5 hours) and $75.00 for a half day (anything up to and including 4 hours). Personnel who have retired from BPS and are qualified to sub for a teacher will receive a daily rate of $160.00 and a half day of $80.00. Purpose Statement The role of the Substitute Teacher is to provide continuity in instructional services when regular teaching staff are absent. The Substitute Teacher delivers planned lessons, manages classroom environments, and ensures student learning continues effectively and safely during the teacher’s absence. Essential Functions Deliver instructional plans prepared by the regular classroom teacher. Manage student behavior in accordance with district policies and procedures. Maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment conducive to learning. Take attendance and submit records Provide feedback to the regular teacher on student progress and classroom activities. Implement emergency procedures as necessary to ensure student safety. Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, and other school settings. Use instructional materials and technology provided by the school. Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administration. Perform other duties as assigned to support the effective operation of the school Bismarck Public Schools uses Red Rover, an absence management system, that allows substitutes to be contacted about available jobs and view and accept available jobs.
